The Filippo Project

When eighty four year old structural engineer Morden Yolles handed me a book about Filippo Brunelleschi’s Cupola I began reading it that very afternoon and found myself annoyed when a subway stop announcement had vaulted me back into the 20th century.

I was hooked.

I had been immersed in a Romantic journey about the worlds first architect, Filippo Brunelleschi. I could not get the building out of my mind. I wanted more. I needed to know more.

I’ve come to learn that his master work, the Cupola of Florence is to me the internet of the Renaissance I have come to understand that art and technology have a way of changing the world for the better and for the long term, the same way I believe the internet and digital technology open portals into a new age.

I moved to Florence with no other plan than to write a third screenplay and create a film about his marvel.
